**Summary**:
When a player has the Invisibility effect (from a Potion of Invisibility or similar means), most hostile mobs will not initiate attacks, even when the player is standing in the same block as the mob or in direct contact. This behavior persists unless the player attacks the mob first or is wearing armor, which negates the Invisibility effect's concealment. According to the Minecraft Wiki, Invisibility should reduce mob detection range, but mobs should still detect and attack players at close proximity (e.g., within 1-2 blocks), especially without armor. Certain mobs (Zombies, Zombie Villagers, Magma Cubes, and Blazes) appear unaffected by this bug and attack normally.
**Affected Versions**:
Bedrock Edition
**Category**:
- Mob Behavior
- Status Effects
**Steps to Reproduce**:
1. Start a new world in Survival or Creative mode (any difficulty except Peaceful).
2. Ensure the player is not wearing any armor
3. Apply the Invisibility effect to the player using one of the following methods:
- `/effect
- Drink a Potion of Invisibility (8:00 or 3:00 duration).
4. Spawn a hostile mob that is affected by this bug, such as a Skeleton
- Alternatively, find these mobs naturally in a dark area or at night.
5. Stand directly next to the mob or within the same block (e.g., by walking into it).
6. Observe the mob’s behavior without attacking it or equipping armor.
7. (Optional) Repeat with unaffected mobs (Zombie, Zombie Villager, Magma Cube, Blaze) for comparison.
**Expected Behavior**:
Based on the Minecraft Wiki’s description of the Invisibility effect:
- Invisibility reduces the detection range of hostile mobs, but they should still detect and attack the player when very close (e.g., within 1-2 blocks or in direct contact).
- Mobs should not completely ignore the player unless they are wearing armor or have attacked the mob, which would reveal the player’s presence.
**Actual Behavior**:
- Most hostile mobs (e.g., Skeleton, Creeper, Spider, Enderman) do not attack the player at all, even when standing in the same block or in direct contact, as long as the player is under the Invisibility effect and not wearing armor.
- The mobs only become aggressive if the player attacks them first or equips armor, which negates Invisibility’s concealment.
- Exceptions: Zombies, Zombie Villagers, Magma Cubes, and Blazes (didn't test many mobs but those are not affected) doesn't detect the player but apply damage the player when in the same block or touching entities
**Additional Notes**:
- This behavior significantly reduces the challenge of navigating hostile environments while invisible, as most mobs become entirely passive unless provoked.
- The bug may be related to mob pathfinding or detection logic failing to account for close-range detection under Invisibility.
- Tested in a single-player and multiplayer in HARD difficulty
- Wearing armor (even a single piece) causes mobs to detect the player normally, as expected per the Invisibility effect’s mechanics.
**Environment**:
- **Game Mode**: Survival
- **Difficulty**: Hard
- **Platform**: Bedrock edition
- **World Type**: Default, Flat, or Custom
- **Cheats**: Enabled for testing (commands used to apply effects and summon mobs)
**Priority**:
Moderate – This bug affects gameplay balance, as it makes Invisibility overly powerful against most hostile mobs, but it does not cause crashes or severe issues.
This issue will not be fixed, see MCPE-175873.
