Trimmed armor sprite visible in untrimmed armor when occupying the same slot as a trimmed armor in another container of the same kind.

When placing a trimmed armor piece in a container (e.g. a chest, a barrel, a Shulker box), any untrimmed armor piece placed in the same slot of another container of the same kind, will show the sprite of a trimmed armor piece. Works with different trims, different trim/armor material and different armor pieces.

How to reproduce the issue:

1.- Place a trimmed armor piece in a container.

2.- Place an untrimmed armor piece in the same slot of another container of the same kind.

Expected result: the untrimmed armor piece should show the untrimmed armor sprite.

Actual result: the untrimmed armor piece shows a sprite as if it was a trimmed armor piece.

Apparently, the slot of a container “remembers” that it had a trimmed armor in it even when removing the trimmed armor from that slot, so when placing an untrimmed armor piece in that slot (in the same container or even in another container of the same kind), it shows the sprite of a trimmed armor piece. It seems to reset when exiting and reloading the world.

Testing further, I found out that it works in any inventory slot, even in furnaces, hoppers, droppers, dispensers, crafting tables, etc.

First screenshot shows a chest with a trimmed piece of armor (diamond leggings) in the first slot. Note the red scription in the tooltip announcing it’s a Flow Armor Trim made with Redstone.

Second screenshot shows another chest with a different piece of armor (iron chestplate) in the first slot too. Note that this piece of armor is NOT trimmed, as the tooltip shows no scription announcing trimms, and yet it shows the sprite of an iron chestplate with Redstone trimming.

Third screenshot shows a chest with six trimmed armor pieces in different slots.

Fourth screenshot shows a chest full of untrimmed iron chestplates, but those placed in the same slots as the trimmed armor pieces in the previous picture, show the sprite of a trimmed armor. Note that the trimm material in the wrong sprite is the same as the trimm material used for the actual trimmed armor pieces from the previous picture.
