Skin not loading when Minecraft is launched unless Dressing Room is opened

When I launch Minecraft my skin doesn’t load. Instead the preview shows a random one of the default skins (but interestingly it’s usually Effe, Noor or Sunny, none of which I use). Clicking on the Dressing Room button usually solves this problem and restores my skin to normal, but it does mean having to wait for the entire UI for the Dressing Room to load, which I’ve also noticed is unusually slow.

Furthermore if you don’t open and close the Dressing Room, Minecraft does actually use the incorrect skin as your playing skin, meaning that if you are multiplayer, other players will see you using the incorrect skin.

To reproduce this issue:

  1. Load Minecraft, noticing which skin loads on the home page.

  2. Click on the Dressing Room button

  3. Once the Dressing Room has fully loaded, exit the Dressing Room

  4. OPTIONAL: Skip steps 2 and 3. Enter a world, then change camera view to third person.

Expected result: Correct skin loads normally at first startup of Minecraft, and doesn’t change once loading and exiting the Dressing Room

Actual result: Random skin loads at homepage of of Minecraft, and returns to normal when loading and exiting the Dressing Room.

Please also note that this bug is most prominent when you first open Minecraft, and happens less so after a second launch of Minecraft (but is still there).

I do apologize for the lack of videos or photos for this bug report, I will attach those as soon as I can, however I can’t right now.
