My boyfriend and I are trying to play together on Minecraft Preview using our PlayStation consoles. I’m on PS4, and he’s on PS5. We are both signed into our Microsoft accounts, have added each other as Xbox friends, and are on the exact same version of Minecraft Preview (1.21.90.23).
When I host a world and invite him:
He receives the invite and clicks to join.
It shows “Unable to join world.”
Then it briefly says “Generating world…”
Finally, it takes him back to the main menu without loading in.
We’ve tried:
Creating brand new worlds on both sides
Inviting each other using the in-game “Invite to Game” button
Joining directly from the friends list
Restarting the consoles and the game
Verifying that both NAT types are Type 1 and Type 2
Making sure all multiplayer and privacy settings are allowed on both Microsoft accounts
The issue only happens in Minecraft Preview — regular Minecraft works fine for us. It seems like a cross-platform multiplayer bug specifically between PS4 and PS5 in Preview mode. Please look into this, as it prevents multiplayer from working at all in Preview for us.
