Camel lays down forever after being leashed

I use camel to ride in the desert biome and leash it to prevent escaping. It seems normal at first but when I leash again while the camel lays down, it doesn't stands up anymore while being leashed. It still walks when I unleashed. I don't know if this is a bug or a feature.
