Boats glitch out when fishing rodded in creative mode 1.21.81

When in creative mode, if I get a fishing rod and try to yank a boat, the boat disappears without a trace. I am unsure why, but my thought process is that since it counts as attacking the boat, I killed the boat? I dunno, thanks for your time! 😄
