Teleported to void while going through end islands portal

I was traveling through the end while on a Realm, and came to a portal to the main end island. I entered it using a birch trapdoor to enter crawl, and when I went through I was spawned in under the island. I attempted to save myself with a block against one of the obsidian pillars, but failed and lost all of the gear I had.
