I'm playing mod earth survival and can't damage any creatures

I started this world and ran into a husk almost right away I was like ok easy. So I grab a sword and started trying to hit it but no matter what I did the mob was taking no damage but was killing me. I thought ok let me test on others mobs and sure enough every mob i tried killing was no damage
