Not Picking Up Mined Blocks Easily

I’ve been finding it difficult to pick up blocks when I break them, it like flies right beside me but doesn’t get picked up by the player until I go over it again. Im building a tall structure so I see if fly pretty close to me, but it just keeps falling and doesn’t get picked up by me, I could tell there was a difference when the new drop was released.
