Everything is slow and unplayable

When my brother and I play the whole world lags like crazy and everything is slow. When he plays the world by himself everything is fine but the second I join neither of us can eat, sleep, die properly, and we can’t even open our doors. It only happens when I or someone else joins the world. We were fine until the ghast update and now it’s all freezing and lagging.
