Be in Creative mode in my Realms world. Create a new map (or locator map) while standing at a Cartography table. View the map to initiate the mapping of the local area. Then, using the Cartography table and some paper - and without moving your position at all - expand the map to a larger size than size 0 - any from size 1 to size 4. You will then have, say, a map at Size 4 (fully zoomed out) of the local area.
Now, with the map in your hand and visible on-screen, take a few steps away from that spot in any direction.
The Level 4 map in your hand - or any map - will be replaced every few steps. And every time, that new map will be at fresh level 0 map, and the higher-level, more-zoomed out map you were about to place on a wall or use otherwise, has been destroyed or overwritten.
It is therefore impossible at the moment, in Creative, to create anything except a level 0 map of where you are, and it’s barely possible to use them in an item frame etc as they get overwritten or destroyed whenever you move a few blocks.
I am wondering if any of the add-ons I have loaded at the moment (I have several) is causing this, or if anyone else using mainly Creative mode has reported the same effect.
Thanks,
Agarthan

OP here: I seem to have spotted the source of this bug - the option in the ‘Essentials’ add-on called ‘Auromatically Updating Map.’. Once I turned that off the issue stopped.
Potential here for the add-on dev to finesse the feature - or explain how it’s meant to be used - a bit more.
Some added test detail: moving around a little (with the above-mentioned option turned on) with a Lvl-3 map out and visible was fine - until I moved enough to move off (the Lvl 0 map that the current Lvl-3 map was created from). Then the add-on destroyed the Lvl-3 map in my hand and helpfully replaced it with a fully-exposed Lvl 0 map. Not really that helpful if you’re try to fill in a larger-sized map!
So, again - some re-thinking, or explaining, of this feature is perhaps needed by the Essentials Add-on’s author/s.
