Steps to reproduce:
create or enter a world (with vibrant visuals enabled), do / time set midnight. Or use the attached MCWorld testing world (see below)
Place a light source in the ground
Grab a item (used a white concrete block for visibility)
Walk on the light source and then back off, repeat
Observed Results:
a stark difference between how bright the item is, when transitioning on and off the glow stone block
Expected Results:
a smoother transition of how bright the item is, between standing on/off the light source
Notes:
Affects:
all campfires
all candles
all copper bulbs
all froglights
all lanterns (soul, normal)
all torches (soul, redstone and normal)
beacon
glowstone
jack o lantern
redstone lamp
sea lantern
shroomlight
1.) Place Glowstone in an area that isnโt at the max light level.
2.) Walk onto Glowstone with item in the players hand.
3.) I would think the light level transition of the item in hand should be smoother, but it abruptly increases from say 70% to 100% โbrightnessโ (just some random numbers, but gets the idea across.)
Note: simply being near Glowstone does not demonstrate this issue. I could only reproduce it when my character was standing on top of Glowstone

However, this issue is Working as Intended.
Please note, that mechanics of the game may change between updates.
Things such as graphics, sounds, world creation, biomes, redstone, villagers, and animals may not work the same in current versions.
