Can no longer color the words on signs: dye, nor the coloring sybmbol works

Can’t color signs with dye, nor can you using the coloring symbol. The symbol still works to bolden the letters but color is ineffective. Editing the sign will indeed show color, but the second you exit edit mode the color does not show up.
