Can’t sign into Microsoft account on Nintendo Switch

When I go to sign in it pulls up the QR code which I use to sign in through my phone. Once I follow all the steps it’s says on my phone that I’m all done and I can close the tab but my switch is stuck on the QR code screen. I can get off of the QR code screen and see that it is trying to get logged into my account based on the fact that it has my gamer tag on the home page. But my account doesn’t load and I can’t get into the marketplace or realms or anything because it thinks I am not logged in. I have tried waiting on both their QR code screen and the Home Screen after logging in on my phone for up to an hour but nothing happens. I know I have a a stable internet connection because everything else works fine on my phone and my switch other than logging into my Microsoft account.
