Zombie Spear Attack Visual and Actual Direction Desynchronization

When a zombie attempts to attack a mob with a spear, the visual orientation of the zombie model does not synchronize with its actual attack direction. After the first attack (which may occasionally be incorrect), the zombie’s model appears to face the target while its actual facing direction remains unchanged—typically facing backward. When the zombie is hit, it briefly snaps to its actual direction before gradually visually realigning, though the actual direction remains incorrect.

How to Reproduce:

  1. Trap a zombie (equipped with a spear) in an enclosed space.

  2. Place minecarts with mobs on both sides, moving back and forth to provoke the zombie’s attacks.

  3. Observe the zombie’s behavior after it locks onto a target and performs spear attacks.

Observed Result:

  • The first spear attack may sometimes align correctly, but from the second attack onward, the zombie’s model visually faces the target while its actual attack direction is backward. ( Video: BUG.mp4 )

  • When the zombie is attacked, its visual orientation instantly corrects to the actual direction, then slowly rotates back visually—without changing the actual attack direction. ( Video: BUG.mp4 )

  • Use snowball attack the zombie, the zombie will move to the right direction but quickly rotated back the false direction. ( Video: BUG2.mp4 )

  • Forcing the zombie into directional vehicles (e.g., minecarts or boats) ,the zombie use spear visually no rotates but can attack backwards. ( Video: BUG3.mp4 )

Expected Result:
The zombie’s attack direction should always match its model’s visual orientation when using a spear.
