Since the last Minecraft update, which I made three days ago, Minecraft has been experiencing terrible lag, making it almost unplayable. I know I'm not the only one with these problems. Is there any way to optimize the game to eliminate the lag and make it playable?

We're tracking this issue at MCPE-179496, so this ticket is being resolved and linked as a duplicate.
The lag is caused by the Improved Input Response option. Go to Settings > Video and disable it. Make sure to restart the game after you disable it.
Additionally, make sure Vibrant Visuals is disabled, as you cannot disable Improved Input Response with Vibrant Visuals enabled.
