Recent update causing laptop to crash and restart

My game has recently started to display some bad issues. I use a gaming laptop (ASUS TUF Gaming A15, about 4 years old), playing multiplayer on a friend’s world (I am in the UK, friend is in the US, he sends me an invite to join his world, not a realm) and over the past couple days, the game has become unplayable. Upon joining, the game is smooth and terrain generation is easy, but after a few seconds, I begin to get sudden bursts of severe lag and frame drops. The game will freeze for a few seconds, then go back to about 3 frames/second, practically becoming a slideshow. My friend has experienced no issues (he plays on a gen 1 Xbox One), but both our games recently updated a few days ago. This continues until either the game crashes, or my laptop crashes and automatically restarts. The game seems to interact awfully with my laptop, having crashed Discord previously as well. The most recent laptop crash had a “stop code” at the bottom of the screen, reading “DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION (0x133)”.

I am able to run other games that are more dps intense relatively smoothly with no major issues, such as GTA V, Destiny 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, Euro and American Truck Simulator, only the recent Minecraft update has had this issue. I have tried many solutions with no success, including:

• Clearing game cache

• Uninstalling and reinstalling the game

• Lowering the graphic requirements in-game to the simplest and most basic options

• Playing in both windowed and fullscreen mode

• Running the game with no additional apps running in the background

Nothing seems to work, if there is any support or help that anyone can provide please.
