I have gone through every channel I can to manually update to ver 1.21.120 and it has not been successful.
When I first got the error message, I was trying to connect to a realm. The error said I wasn't on the latest version so I couldn't connect. It told me to search “chain” on the website. When I did, it directed me to try and update manually. It also said there was no way to manually update on Windows 10, but I tried going through the steps anyway.
I tried Repairing and Resetting the launcher, no change.
I tried reinstalling the launcher, no change.
I looked into my Microsoft account for updates and logged out/in again, nothing.
I looked into my Xbox account for issues and logged out/in again, nothing.
I even went to the installation tab in the launcher and checked for an update, nothing.
The play button is still there, set to use the latest version, and no sign of an automatic update after a week of being unable to access realms and other servers.
I noticed the latest update included GDK compliance for windows versions, and I have a sneaking suspicion that Windows may have purposefully blocked updates for Windows 10 because they no longer support it, but I have no way to confirm that.
I am planning to switch to Linux Mint anyway because Windows 11 has some major issues, but I don't know if this issue will be fixed that way, and I don't want to lose anything. Please help me!!!
