Copper golem doesn't spawn

Crafted copper golem and chest spawned. Used copper block and carved pumpkin. Chest spawned and golem behavior was active. Golem not visible on screen. Logged out and back in and was not resolved. Created another and same issue. Was able to kill golem by randomly hitting air with iron pickaxe and listening for the clank sound (similar to the sound made when an iron golem is hit).
