"Loading resource packs" takes way too long

(This has been affecting the last several versions too)

When starting up the game the “Loading resource packs” screen always pops up and can take minutes upon minutes to load before I can actually play the game, no matter how little addons/resource packs I actually have downloaded. It makes starting up the game very annoying.
