In the current Bedrock Preview on PS5, critical hits often behave incorrectly.
Around 50–70% of the time, after performing a critical hit, the next attack becomes a ghost swing:
The critical hit sound plays
The critical hit particles appear
The mob shows the “taking damage” animation
BUT no actual damage is applied
For example: a pig normally dies from 2 critical hits, but in the Preview it sometimes requires 3 or more because one of the hits was a fake crit that produced sound/particles but dealt zero damage.
This issue does not occur in the official Bedrock release — only in the Preview.
Affected mobs tested:
Pigs, cows, sheep
Spiders
Skeletons
Creepers
Likely affects all mobs, but these were tested directly.
Steps to Reproduce
Launch the latest Bedrock Preview on PS5.
Enter any world.
Find a mob.
Perform a critical hit (jump + hit on descent).
Immediately perform a normal hit or chain another crit.
Observe: the sound and crit particles play, the mob flashes red, but no damage is actually registered for about 50–70% of those follow-up attacks.
Observed Result
Critical hit sound plays.
Critical hit particles appear.
Mob flashes red as if damaged.
But no HP is removed.
Mob survives more hits than it normally should.
The swing acts like a “ghost crit” with visuals and audio but no real damage.
Happens repeatedly and is easy to reproduce.
Expected Result
Critical hits should apply proper damage.
If the crit sound and animation play, the mob should actually take the appropriate amount of damage.
Additional Notes
Only happens in the Preview, not in the latest official build.
Tested with swords and axes.
Happens on multiple mobs.
Happens even in flat new worlds with no lag.
Seems related to hit registration timing specifically after a crit.
