Boats seem to disappear when placed on land, actually buried in ground

This has been happening to me in 1.21.123. I’ve been trying to capture zombies in boats, and when I’ve tried to place the boat on land in front of them, the boats often seem to disappear.

I was able to recreate the issue and took videos of it, using these steps:

1. While backing away from zombies, try to place boat on ground.

2. Expect boat to appear on ground.

3. Boat disappears from hotbar, but not visible on ground. However, looking in spectator mode, boat is actually being placed in the ground one level below, completely within the dirt.
