Minecraft for iOS becomes completely unusable without an internet connection

I wanted to go on a trip with my homies. Our guide told us that for the entire journey and at the place we were going, there would be almost no internet. One of my friends suggested we take gamepads and play Minecraft over a local network. So, yesterday I bought one, downloaded Minecraft on my phone and started testing how local game works, but here's the problem: without an internet connection, THE APP DOESN'T WORK. AT ALL.

You can't change the settings, you can't look at the background animation, you can't even click the buttons. If you get lucky and the "play" button registers your tap, you'll see a slideshow (about 0.01 fps) of the game loading your worlds list. But then it's impossible to open any of them, no matter how much you try. The worlds are just unclickable.

Please, I beg you, release a hotfix in the next few days if possible
