Im a waydroid user that previously can run the minecraft smoothly without any issue, but when I update to the 1.21.124 version it just stuck on a loading screen. First thought, maybe it just another cleanup/initialization for a new version or something related to the technical aspect. After a long 15 mins I sense something wrong with this update, so i tried to log the error using the waydroid logcat command.
My guess is the failing ziparchive or missing libpairipcore.soand here’s the slice of the log.

Yeah, autoupdated for me today and I lost my ability to play Minecraft on SteamDeck as well 😰 … took me like an hour of testing where the issue could be in horror I may loose my progress or something to figure out its not on my end but global. Not a great experience.
I downgrade the android version of waydroid to android 11 using their official lineageos 18 and still the same stuck infinite splash screen. If you do really want to play minecraft, use redroid (android that runs on the docker) but you need to spend more effort because you need to keep the container down if you want to keep the waydroid, because the docker network may collide with the waydroid network (atleast for my case). Also you need scrcpy to connect to that instance.

I will wait I guess, I was able to install waydroid only after somebody did automatic script for it - I would not be able to get this working (atleast not without major hedache 🙂 … linux it self is not my thing :) ) … but thanks for the link, Im sure it will help somebody. My hopes are not high after seing how much important stuff is broken for how long and after figuring out that infamous white login screen bug for Minecraft Dungeons yesterday … but maybe they will surprise me this time … or more likely next version will be built differently again and start to work on its own 😄 … but I was able to backup my world luckily so I can play on PC if everything fails but it will never be the same in terms of play oportunities.
