Renamed chests and barrels show as $new_custom_name

i can’t rename chests and barrels it says $new_custom_name when I try to rename them with a anvil it lets me rename them but then when u place it and click it at the top were i should say the name i renamed it to it shows $new_custom_name but when its in my inventory the chest or barrel is says the right name tho but not when u place it
