In version 1.21.100, players with slow or unstable internet connections were still able to join LAN multiplayer worlds, although the connection might take longer to establish. This allowed users with varying network speeds to play together without being excluded. In the latest version (1.21.101+), players with slower internet are no longer able to join LAN worlds at all. This change significantly impacts accessibility, especially for players in regions with limited or unstable internet connectivity.
Steps to Reproduce:
Use a slow or unstable internet connection.
Attempt to join a friend’s LAN multiplayer world in version 1.21.101 or later.
Observe that the connection fails or times out.
Expected Behavior:
Players should still be able to join LAN worlds even if their internet connection is slow, similar to the behavior in version 1.21.100. Joining may take slightly longer, but it should not fail completely.
Actual Behavior:
Players with slow or unstable internet are completely unable to join LAN worlds, receiving connection errors or timeouts.
Impact:
Reduces accessibility for users with weaker internet connections.
Prevents friends from playing together in LAN multiplayer if any participant has slow internet.
Limits the overall multiplayer experience for communities in regions with unstable internet infrastructure.
May discourage players from participating in LAN multiplayer altogether.
Suggested Fix:
Restore the tolerance for slower internet connections in LAN multiplayer, similar to the behavior in version 1.21.100. This would ensure that players with weaker connections can still join worlds, maintaining accessibility and inclusivity for all users.
this also causes friends of friends to fail when it still assumes to be friends only or invite only. And a workaround was to have each ppl send me a friend request to fix every time. I would know we either might or might not be talking about the same subject, but it is related to connection issues based of worlds. affected on all platform for me and my friends who’ve experience these kind of issues on point.
