4 bundles completely wiped after creeper explodes half a double chest

I just found my first ever smithing template and stuck it in one of my bundles and put that in a double chest. I went into the nether again to make a ceiling highway home and when I came back for it a creeper walked up and blew up half the double chest. I picked up the stuff that flew everywhere and opened the newly single chest that was still there. The chest that was still standing was the one with the bundles and did not get blown up. Instead the bundles were totally wiped. Just four empty bundles that used to hold something I thought I’d never get. A sweet sweet smithing template. Anyways have a good day.
