Mobs sometimes despawning when coming close from a height in Superflat worlds

Mobs are despawning when dropping close to them from a height (Video:VIDEO 1). It only works on Superflat worlds (I tested it on a regular world). It can cause issues while using the mace.

How to Remake:

  1. Load a Superflat world. My settings had creative and cheats on.

  2. Seed (if relevant): -2707343202733730408

  3. Coordinates: x=272, z=-253

  4. Build 41 blocks up.

  5. Wait for mobs to spawn

When jumping down, the mobs despawn.

PS: It does not happen 100% of the time (Video: VIDEO 2).

Thanks Mojang!

This is not a bug. From the 1.16.0 changelog:

Almost all naturally spawning mobs will automatically despawn when they're 44 blocks or further away from the nearest players in a world with simulation distance 4. On higher simulation distances, mobs are despawned when they're in a chunk at the edge of the simulation distance up to a distance or 128 blocks from the nearest player

Increase the simulation distance to avoid the issue.
