UI Invisible Un-Interactable after Update to Android 16 One UI 8.5 BAD API HANDSHAKE

Issue as of 6/1/26 after update to Android 16 OneUI 8.5 on Samsung S23FE on Minecraft Pocket Edition Version 1.26.23.1.

ISSUE:

After update to new OS Android 16 OneUI 8.5 using MCPE Version 1.26.23.1 on main home screen after clicking any button (e.g. “Play”, “Settings”, “Marketplace”, or “Dressing Room”) the UI completely disappears and user can only see the Minecraft Main Menu background

Things done to attempt fix:

• turned off or lowered most rendering settings

• cleared cache

• ran optimization for all apps through app booster/game booster

• went into developer options to change the graphics driver from "default” to “systems graphics driver”

• changed phone default text size and zoom to force engine to re-render and re-read files

• restarted phone

• closed game numerous times

• changed in-game video settings early on (before main home screen UI became un-interactable due to in-game UI on pause menu being rendered invisible after initial interaction)

Results: NO CHANGE

How To Replicate:

  • Ensure device is on OS Android 16 OneUI 8.5 on MinecraftPocket Edition Version 1.26.23.1

  • Launch Game from phone menu

  • Once main screen is loaded, tap ANY button

  • EXPECTED RESULT: UI completely disappears and is rendered invisible and un-interactable

TLDR: Engine Mismatch BAD API HANDSHAKE between Android 16 OneUi 8.5 Driver and RenderDragon Engine Version 1.26.23.1 causing API Interruptions, Minecraft UI un-interactable due to being completely invisible.

Hi!
Thank you for your report!

  • Can you record a video of the issue and upload it?

  • Have you tried reinstalling the Minecraft game? (Remember to create backup files before doing so.)

  • Does the game freeze, background stops spinning?

  • No menu loads after waiting any amount of time?

  • Are you using any add-ons or resource packs? If so, could you provide a complete list of them?

Yes, I have uninstalled and reinstalled Minecraft with no change. The game does not freeze, the background continually spins. I have waited upwards of 10 minutes to see if anything would load in, but the menu is still there it's just not visible. I can't see what I'm clicking, however if I click a world (or any button), I get the click-interaction sound, but the world does not load after any amount of time. I do have add-ons and resource packs available, but I only have those installed on a few worlds. One of the first things that I did when I initially noticed that there was an issue was I checked all of my add-ons and resource packs for updates. Minecraft is fully updated as well as any available add-ons and resource packs. I will add the video that I took of the issue ( I accidentally turned on text to speech during the video and cannot easily turn it off).

It seems that the video I took is too long to properly upload. I may have to create a link to the file.

I do need to update this text exchange with what add-ons I have (or used to have) access to after some have been removed from access after no longer being available through Marketplace Pass:

Tinkers Construct 3.0, World utilities add-on, crops and farms, uncrafting, there's a backpacks mod, a teleporting mod, there's a few others but I literally can't see them in order to list them here no matter what button I push so this list is going to be terribly incomplete.

I had accidentally turned on text to speech in the video that I uploaded because I can't see what I'm touching or interacting with, and when I click the “PLAY” button and try to click wherever I think a world would be, the text to speech thing says something about me not being able to play whatever world I selected (which I can’t see) unless I have a particular add-on - but I was able to briefly see the screen for tinker's construct 3.0 in the marketplace which I guess has been removed from Marketplace pass (?) and so I can't play that world unless I buy it or something (?) which I don't really care about that but unfortunately I can't click the edit world settings and disable or deactivate any add-ons because I can't see the user interface at all. This is increasingly frustrating 😓😞😩😭😭😭

Bug still present in 26.40

happened on MagicOS10 too ( base on Android16)

I have a temporary fix. I don't sure it’s work for everyone. You can download MB loader on Play store to run a Minecraft in MB loader instead minecraft
