Custom item plays eating animation even without minecraft:food or minecraft:use_animation: "eat"

Custom Bedrock items that use usable-item behavior can incorrectly play an eating-style animation, even when the item is not configured as food and does not explicitly use the eat animation.

The issue occurs even when the item does not include the minecraft:food component and does not set:

"minecraft:use_animation": "eat"

Setting:

"minecraft:use_animation": "none"

also does not prevent the eating animation. The same issue appears to happen when the item becomes usable through components such as minecraft:use_modifiers.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a custom item using the modern Bedrock item format.

  2. Do not add the minecraft:food component.

  3. Do not set minecraft:use_animation to "eat".

  4. Add usable-item behavior, for example by using minecraft:use_modifiers.

  5. Load the behavior pack into a world.

  6. Hold right-click / hold the use button while holding the custom item.

  7. Observe the have an player eating motion and not just an use.

Expected Result

The custom item should not play the eating animation unless it is explicitly configured as food or explicitly sets:

"minecraft:use_animation": "eat"

If no eating animation is specified, the item should either use no special animation or use the correct animation assigned by minecraft:use_animation.

Actual Result

The custom item plays an eating-style animation while being used, even though it does not include minecraft:food and does not use "minecraft:use_animation": "eat".

Setting "minecraft:use_animation": "none" does not stop the issue.

Additional Notes

Videos and item JSON snippets are attached. The issue appears to be related to custom usable items, especially items using minecraft:use_modifiers / use_duration. The issue still happens when using the newest supported format_version, so format_version does not appear to be the cause.

Quick note:

“format_version" is when put to newest is nither the cause.

This happens to vanilla items like the “goat horn” to!
