minecraft:overworld minecraft:dimension_bounds doesn't work since 1.26.40

The ability to configure custom Overworld height bounds through a dimensions .json file has been supported for several years. This method no longer works at all and doesn’t appear to have been formally deprecated.

The attached Add-On uses only vanilla stable components and was properly supported until v1.26.40 release. Dropping this with the addition of the new dimensions framework appears to be an error.?

Here is the content of the BP/dimensions/overworld.json file in the example:

{
  "format_version": "1.18.0",
    "minecraft:dimension": {
      "description": {
        "identifier": "minecraft:overworld"
      },
      "components": {
        "minecraft:dimension_bounds": {
          "min": -512,
          "max": 512
      },
      "minecraft:generation": {
          "generator_type": "void"
      }
    }
  }
}

I can confirm that this worked up until the v26.40 update it has ultimately led to the destruction of several large-scale builds in some of my worlds. This needs to be formally looking into and addressed. I have looked through the entire change log for v26.40 and nothing is stated about its removal.
