There is a critical performance drop (~20 FPS) when running Minecraft Bedrock with Vibrant Visuals (Deferred Technical Preview) on the Lenovo Legion Y700 Gen 3 (Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Adreno 750) at native resolution (2560x1600).
This issue is caused by improper optimization of the RenderDragon engine for Adreno GPUs:
1. GPU Bottlenecks & Pipeline Stall: The Deferred pipeline shaders cause inefficient draw call batching and excessive bandwidth thrashing on Adreno architecture, failing to utilize tile-based rendering properly.
2. Lack of Resolution Scaling: The engine forces full-resolution rendering of heavy Volumetric Fog and PBR materials at 2.5K without any built-in temporal upscaling (FSR) or render scale options.
3. Comparative Performance: MediaTek platforms with Immortalis GPUs handle Deferred Rendering significantly better. Furthermore, this device achieves stable 60 FPS in heavy x86/DirectX 11 PC games via translation layers (e.g., Dark Souls 3), whereas native ARM64 Minecraft Bedrock struggles at 20 FPS.
Expected Result:
Optimization of RenderDragon shader compilation for Adreno drivers and implementation of an in-game Render Scale setting.
