Player stats not updating

My player stats are not updating. Before I got onto my hardcore world, my stats for mobs defeated were 1,437. Almost 2 hours later, I checked my player stats again, and even though I had killed about 40 animals on my world, it was the same number. It didn’t update even when I closed the software and opened the game again. PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM.
