Bug Report — Minecraft Bedrock Mobile on Xiaomi/Redmi Devices

Bug Report — Minecraft Bedrock Mobile on Xiaomi/Redmi Devices

I would like to report a potential issue involving Minecraft Bedrock Mobile and the MIUI Security app, especially on Xiaomi/Redmi devices.

The issue was observed on devices such as the Redmi 10A (model 220233L2G), running Android 11 and MIUI 12.5. Minecraft appears in the list of applications that can be included in the cleaning process performed by the MIUI Security app.

When temporary data or files used by Minecraft are removed, this may potentially cause unwanted behavior, such as game crashes, loss or recreation of certain local data, loading problems, and in some situations, the player's skin being reset to the default skin.

I would like the team to specifically investigate the interaction between Minecraft Bedrock Mobile and MIUI's cleaning and optimization system.

Suggested solution

One of the improvements I would most like to see in Minecraft Bedrock Mobile is a way to automatically protect Minecraft's essential files and temporary data from being removed by Xiaomi/MIUI's automatic cleaning system.

It would also be important to investigate whether Minecraft could be recognized by MIUI as an application that contains essential files required for proper operation, preventing those files from being unnecessarily deleted during a device cleanup.

This could help prevent:

  • Crashes after device cleaning;

  • Temporary data being unnecessarily deleted or recreated;

  • Loss of local settings;

  • Skin-related problems;

  • The player's skin being reset to the default character;

  • Other unexpected behavior after using the MIUI cleaning tool.

I am not claiming that MIUI is necessarily the only cause of these problems. My intention is to report a possible interaction between Minecraft Bedrock Mobile and Xiaomi's cleaning system that deserves further investigation.

It would be very important for this issue to be investigated, especially because many entry-level Xiaomi/Redmi devices have more limited memory and storage resources. A solution that prevents essential Minecraft files from being incorrectly removed could significantly improve the stability and overall experience of Minecraft Bedrock Mobile on these devices.

Affected device: Xiaomi Redmi 10A
Model: 220233L2G
Operating system: Android 11
UI: MIUI 12.5
Related system app: Xiaomi/MIUI Security
Game: Minecraft Bedrock Edition Mobile

I hope the team can investigate this behavior and, if possible, implement protection for Minecraft's essential data against system cleaning tools.
