I experienced an unusual issue with villagers unexpectedly taking damage and then disappearing in my Minecraft Bedrock survival world.
The world was set to Peaceful difficulty. The affected villagers were name-tagged, and I did not observe any obvious cause of damage such as hostile mobs, fire, lava, drowning, falling, or suffocation.
Several villagers with valuable trades disappeared unexpectedly.
One particularly valuable librarian was named "Multishot". Its trades were:
Multishot — 6 emeralds
Aqua Affinity — 6 emeralds
This librarian was only about 6 blocks away from me when I noticed it taking damage unexpectedly. It then disappeared, and I did not see exactly what caused the damage or disappearance.
When the "Multishot" librarian disappeared, I saw white cloud-like particles at approximately the same location where the villager had been. I was unable to capture a screenshot or video because it happened unexpectedly.
Other librarians that disappeared unexpectedly had these trades (Just were not there when I logged in ) :
Aqua Affinity — 12 emeralds
Mending — 34 emeralds
Sharpness V — 21 emeralds
Looting III — 12 emeralds + Efficiency V — 33 emeralds (same villager)
All of these villagers were name-tagged.
Steps to reproduce
I have not been able to reliably reproduce the issue.
Play a Minecraft Bedrock survival world.
Set the difficulty to Peaceful.
Obtain villagers and give them name tags.
Give librarians valuable enchanted-book trades.
Keep the villagers in a trading area.
Leave the area and continue playing.
Return to the area later.
Repeat for like 2-3 weeks
In my case, some name-tagged villagers had unexpectedly disappeared.
In the case of the "Multishot" librarian, I observed it taking damage unexpectedly shortly before it disappeared.
Expected result
Name-tagged villagers should remain in the world unless they are killed by an identifiable game mechanic or environmental hazard.
Actual result
Multiple name-tagged villagers unexpectedly disappeared. In one case, I observed a librarian taking damage even though I could not identify a cause.
White cloud-like particles were visible at approximately the location of the "Multishot" librarian when it disappeared.

Important additional evidence:
I have now personally witnessed TWO of the affected villagers taking unexplained damage before disappearing:
"Multishot" — librarian with Multishot for 6 emeralds and Aqua Affinity for 6 emeralds.
"Mending" — librarian with Mending for 20 emeralds.
Both villagers were name-tagged and the world was on Peaceful difficulty.
In both cases, I personally saw the villager take unexplained damage even though I did not see an identifiable source such as a hostile mob, fire, lava, drowning, falling, or suffocation.
When the villagers died/disappeared, I observed white cloud-like particles at approximately the location where the villager had been.
The same general sequence occurred:
Villager was present and alive.
Villager unexpectedly took damage.
No obvious source of damage was visible.
White cloud-like particles appeared when the villager died/disappeared.
The villager was gone.
This has now happened to at least two villagers that I directly witnessed taking unexplained damage.
I still cannot reliably reproduce the issue.
Maybe they were struck by lightning and turned into a witch. Were they protected from lightning strikes?
