Minecraft GUI disappears after interacting passed menu screen

You can click buttons on the initial menu but past that you can’t see the interface, and are presented with just the background. You can still click on stuff/join worlds but the buttons are invisible. Even within a world, movement and pause buttons are invisible yet useable.
