Description:
I am playing Minecraft Bedrock Edition 26.51 on Xbox One in a Survival world with more than 500 hours of gameplay.
I have experienced the same serious issue twice. After dying far away from my base, I saved the exact coordinates of my death and stopped playing. The area where I died was far enough away that the chunks containing my dropped items were unloaded.
When I returned to the exact death coordinates later, I reached the area within the expected item despawn time after the chunks became loaded again. However, all of my dropped items had already disappeared.
This has happened on two separate occasions.
Items lost in the first incident included:
1 full set of enchanted diamond armor
1 fully enchanted diamond sword
1 fully enchanted diamond pickaxe
1 fully enchanted diamond axe
1 fully enchanted diamond shovel
2 buckets containing tadpoles
Approximately 5 buckets containing tropical fish
Other supplies used for transporting animals
Items lost in the second incident included:
Another full set of enchanted diamond armor
Another fully enchanted diamond sword
Another fully enchanted diamond pickaxe
Another fully enchanted diamond axe
Another fully enchanted diamond shovel
Approximately 20 leads
Approximately 15 empty buckets
2 buckets containing tropical fish
Several wooden boats
Other supplies
These items were obtained legitimately in Survival mode and represent many hours of gameplay.
I have video recordings showing the deaths and/or the locations and coordinates involved, and I can attach them as evidence.
Expected behavior:
Dropped items located in unloaded chunks should not continue their despawn timer while those chunks are unloaded. When returning and loading the area again within the remaining despawn time, the items should still be present.
Actual behavior:
After returning to the exact death coordinates, the dropped items were completely gone, despite the area having been unloaded and despite returning within the expected active-chunk despawn period.
Because this has now occurred twice in the same Survival world, I am concerned that there may be an issue with dropped-item persistence, chunk saving/loading, or world saving on Xbox Bedrock.
Please investigate this issue. I can provide the affected world, videos, coordinates, and any additional information required to reproduce or diagnose the problem.
I would also like to know whether there is any official way to recover or restore the items lost as a result of this issue without disabling achievements or otherwise compromising my legitimate Survival world.
Additional information regarding the three recorded incidents:
I have video recordings of all three deaths in which this issue occurred.
In each of the three incidents, immediately after dying, I saved the game and shut down my Xbox. I did not remain playing in the world or near the location where the items were dropped.
When I later turned the Xbox back on, loaded the same Survival world and returned to the exact location of each recorded death, none of the dropped items were there.
Because the game was saved and the console was shut down immediately after each death, the chunks containing the dropped items should not have remained loaded long enough for the normal five-minute item despawn timer to expire.
This happened three separate times, and all three deaths were recorded. I can provide the videos showing the deaths, the coordinates and the circumstances surrounding each incident.
This appears to be reproducible behavior affecting my Survival world rather than a single accidental item loss. I would appreciate an investigation into whether the items are being incorrectly removed during world saving, shutdown, or subsequent chunk loading on Minecraft Bedrock for Xbox.
