Character creator skins glitch in split screen

Note: “affects version” may be incorrect due to lack of understanding, further system details attached in photos.

We use, according to the Ps4, Minecraft: Play Station 4 Edition. (But we do get updates like dappled forest, etc. so maybe it is Bedrock.) With the latest update, whenever we open split screen, Player 1's skin glitches out, the hair texture smoothing, eyes on the chin, shirt stretching, and any object in hand juts out from the mouth area.

When Player 2 attempts to put on a Creator Character, it copies Player 1's warped skin (pictured, it is stuck wearing different clothes from when Player 1 first started glitching out, since then Player 1 is occasionally able to change the outfit, though it still gets warped.) If we step close to each other, the unglitched proper skin will briefly reveal itself.

Classic skins do work.

I tried some basic tips Google suggested: changing arm slimness, clearing in game cache, relogging, making new custom skin, plugging and unplugging ps4, checking network, and the problem persisted.
