Item permanently disappeared immediately after being dropped

Shortly, likely less than a minute after logging into my Hardcore world, I dropped my elytra on accident, and it immediately vanished from the world. I searched around the area I had dropped it thoroughly, checking every area and around the edges of blocks to see if I had just missed it. I hovered and clicked every empty slot in my inventory, but it was undoubtedly gone. I reloaded the game twice and it was still gone. I grabbed a spare elytra and gave it to one of my allays, but it found nothing around the area. In a final effort I went to the world spawn, bringing the allay holding the elytra, to see if the game hadn’t made a mistake determining my position and defaulted to the spawn or somewhere else I had been. However no elytra was found. I tried dropping other items, such as flowers and cobblestone, even reloading Bedrock edition as a whole and dropping an item as soon as I loaded to try to recreate the circumstances, but it did not occur again. There were also no hazards, where the item was dropped. There was a lava farm in the same area with exposed lava, but the elytra was not dropped anywhere near that lava. Either a. the elytra vanished from the world itself, or b. the game didn’t drop the elytra at the correct position, leaving it lost until it despawned.
