MCPE-46805 is marked as Fixed, but villagers still get stuck at closed fence gates in the current version. Several reports about this exact issue (e.g. MCPE-162839) were closed as duplicates of MCPE-46805, whose fix only addressed bamboo.
In a villager breeder enclosed by walls and fence gates, villagers repeatedly walk up to a fence gate on their own and stop there. Once stuck, the villager stands in place and only rotates randomly. It no longer pathfinds anywhere: it doesn’t go to its claimed bed at night (even though the bed is reachable), doesn’t work at its job site, and doesn’t collect crops. This happens to both adult farmers and baby villagers. Replacing the villager with a fresh one doesn’t help; the new villager gets stuck the same way.
Pushing the villager away from the gate doesn’t help either; it stays frozen wherever it’s moved. Putting it in a boat and breaking the boat temporarily restores normal behavior, but the villager eventually returns to a fence gate and gets stuck again.
In my survival world, the issue first appeared with walls connected directly to fence gates. Replacing the walls with full blocks and fences reduced it, but villagers still got stuck at the remaining fence gates. After removing all fence gates, the problem disappeared completely.
Steps to reproduce:
Create a new world.
Build a small enclosure on farmland using fence gates (closed) and walls.
Place beds and composters nearby so the villagers can claim them.
Spawn two adult villagers inside the enclosure and let them breed.
Observe the villagers for a few minutes.
Observed result:
Within a few minutes, one adult farmer and baby villager got stuck at the fence gates, standing in place and only rotating. They stopped sleeping, working, and farming.
Expected result:
Villagers treat closed fence gates as an obstacle and continue normal pathfinding (sleeping, working, farming).
Notes:
Regression or incomplete fix of MCPE-46805.
Fence gates are commonly used in villager breeder designs, and this setup used to work in previous versions.
Workaround: replace all fence gates (and walls) with fences or full blocks.
