Mobs Can Attack During Jumping Despite Being Out of Range When Standing

I noticed unusual Iron Golem attack behavior in Minecraft Bedrock Edition involving vertical distance and jumping.

When a player stands at Y=10 and an Iron Golem stands at Y=7, the Iron Golem cannot attack the player while standing still. However, when the Iron Golem jumps from a lower area (Y=6) toward the block at Y=7, its attack can hit the player during the jumping movement.

Example setup:

           Player (Y=10)

           🟩 (Y=9)

           🟩 (Y=8)

           🟩 (Y=7)

      🟩🟩🟩 (Y=6)

🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Observed behavior:

1. The player stands at Y=10.

2. The Iron Golem approaches the structure from the lower ground.

3. When the Iron Golem stands at Y=7, it cannot attack the player.

4. When the Iron Golem jumps from the lower area at Y=6 toward Y=7, its attack can hit the player during the jump.

5. Once the Iron Golem lands and stands still at Y=7, it can no longer attack the player.

Expected behavior:

The Iron Golem should not be able to attack the player if the vertical distance and attack range prevent it from reaching the player, regardless of its jumping animation.

Actual behavior:

The Iron Golem appears to be able to hit the player during its jump, even though it cannot hit the player while standing at Y=7.

This behavior is not limited to Iron Golems. I have also observed similar behavior with other hostile mobs that attempt to attack the player, depending on their vertical attack range, in Minecraft Bedrock Edition.

Request:

Could the Minecraft Bedrock Edition development team investigate this behavior and determine whether it is intended or a bug?

Thank you for your hard

work on Minecraft Bedrock Edition!
