Signs Missing in Creative Inventory and Recipe Book

When I try to get a sign from creative inventory the texture is broken and placing it results in it being a standing sign wherever you place it and it only faces one direction and doesn't let you type in it. Also in survival, the sign is missing altogether, and you can only craft it using oak planks, but if you craft it, the sign works normally with no problem. I also tried to type "/give @p sign," but if you do that, it comes back as 'Syntax error: Unexpected "sign": at "/give @p >>sign<<".' If you type "/give @p standing_sign" it gives you the bugged creative inventory sign, which can't be placed and written on. I tried looking through the other bugs when searching sign, but people aren't very descriptive, so I hope I am not posting a bug already posted.
