[MCPE-31274] End gateway teleports me inside end gateway and I die cause the area is too small

Killed end dragon, built ladder to End Gateway. I throw a peral into the end gateway, it teleports me into the actual End Gateway where it is too small and I die.

I respawned the ender dragon, killed, spawned a second gateway, SAME issue. help!
