However, this report was submitted to the developers a long time ago, so please don't make significant changes to the description that would invalidate whatever they've done. If a significant change is needed, it's a different problem and you need to create a new report.

On the other hand, the heading probably doesn't match your platform, and the bug's behavior may have changed as releases have been put out, so feel free to change the affected version and add more information to the description.

I am having the same problem, but I can't even get to the settings menu.

I reproducing this issue when I close the game with the ALT+F4 keyboard combination during the game opening. After I reopened the game, this error appearing on the screen sometimes.

I added the steps to reproduce, but this error isn't always seem when I implementing these steps.

I want to suggest that Alt-F4 is perhaps not the best way to exit any application, not just Minecraft. This hotkey dates back all the way to Windows 3, in which it was implemented to prevent a program stuck in an infinite loop from locking up the system. Back then, Windows advised programmers not to depend on Alt-F4 for normal shutdown and to avoid delaying the shutdown when it was used, so it was accepted that using Alt-F4 created a risk of data loss or corruption.

Nowadays, Windows apps can do a graceful shutdown in any case, but its earlier "panic button" association might mean that some apps do an abbreviated shutdown that only preserves the integrity of essential data. And in any event some apps will still treat it as a panic button if you press it a second time. So I would not make it a habit to use it as the main way of exiting an app.
