Villagers will not acknowledge work stations. There were a bunch of villagers with no jobs and I placed workstations and they would not accept the jobs. They were normal villagers, not nitwits. It’s very frustrating. I can’t do any trades in my world.

They only accept new jobs during working hours. Not sure how long you tried, but this could be it.

it so annoying, villagers are not accepting new jobs even during working hours, i had to get rid of several villagers because of this. up to this date they still havent picked a workstation and occupation
