Realm - Disconnected from server

I've been playing on my realm for weeks successfully on my Switch. Only recently I've been having connection problems.

It started one night as constant lag spikes, and gradually got to the stage where I couldn't stay connected for longer than 10 minutes at a time.

I've checked my internet connection, which has no problems. I've tried downloading and reuploading the realm, as well as reinstalling the game. None of these have fixed the issue as the problem has been persistent for days.

The only work around I can think of is downloading the realm and playing it in a single player world, but it's incredibly tedious when I'm playing with my friend on Xbox (he has no connection issues btw).

I'm not sure if it's a problem with the Switch itself or an issue with minecraft, but either way, any suggestions are welcome.
