Villagers disappear. I had a farmer to provide food and sufficient light so no mobs would spawn. They all had beds and work stations too.

I have 2 villages 100+ blocks apart: 4 in one village 10 in the other - game keeps making them die/disappear leaving 3 and 6 respectively - beds are spaced out away from walls (to avoid suffocation bug) - not sure if this is tied to villages sleeping in wrong position (1.13.08 and 1.14.01)...it seems to happen moreso when I change dimensions a lot and not when I stay with villagers so maybe something to do with chunk loading??
