Just to be sure - I built a 1x1 opening about 30 blocks off the ground. I put unbreaking 3 (and mending) on my elytra (not sure if this matters). I took a couple stacks of rockets and worked on this achievement. It took a long time to go through the opening - once I went through but the elytra deactivated even though I did not make contact with the opening. I finally went through again and the elytra stayed active - I don't know how fast 40 m/s is, but I wasn't going slow. The achievement didn't register. I could keep trying, but I don't think I can go through the opening going any faster. Based on this I don't believe the achievement works for 1.16.10 hotfix
I actually got it I didn’t know the gap had to be at least 30 blocks from ground thanks for the help
I've gone through a few more times - with different heights, different approach distances, activating a firework right before I went through so I would be accelerating to make sure I was going fast enough and nothing has worked yet.
I tried with a riptide 3 trident, WHICH IS FASTER THAN A ROCKET, and it still did not give me the achievement. I used riptide twice, and the speed compounded meaning i went even faster than before. I used riptide 3 times in a row and even 4 times and it still did not give me the achievement.
This is still an issue in 1.19.51. I even unenchanted my elytra and took my boots off to see whether Kozma Kosova's comment holds up; but I still didn't get the achievement.
Maybe it's because Minecraft's tickrate is only 20, flying at 40m/s will fly through 2 blocks within 1 tick, and the mechanism ignored the position between 2 ticks.
How is this sill an unresolved issue? I have tried the vertical set up many times, with my ring set up several blocks above water, nothing. I know I am going fast enough because I used slime blocks to prevent from taking damage and a couple of times I hit them instead of going through and got the Trampoline achievement. I tried horizontal too several times and the one time I did manage to line it up and shoot through, nothing.
When is this going to be fixed this still an issue I am not getting the achievement when completed
