went through a nether portal - was carrying a map in off hand and cooked chicken in other. was placed in nether with no return portal. didn't expect to need to travel thousands of blocks or fight ghasts or magma cubes, died almost instantly, lost my elytra, enchanted diamond armor, shulker boxes, etc.
