In multiplayer, the nether portals are buggy and dont like to work when players are using the portals. Recently i was at 4900x, y, 3049 in the overworld. The nether didnt load properly and i hesrd someone taking dmg without being able to see what is going on. I reload the world and im in those same coordinates, but in the nether.

I spawned portalless too
Peaceful mode also was buggy, as i resorted to travel to my original nether hub.
Advise your friends to avoid using portals, and you should be fine. Hopefully you have a Coordinate Book in your world, bc I managed to get home in about an hr.

I am having the same issue on my Realm. Nether portals are not working 100% of the time. It appears that the coordinates remain the same but the map changes from Nether to Overworld causing you to spawn in without a nether portal. This has rendered my realm unusable.
